This was such a fun project! You can use this for a baby shower, birthday party or even a wedding. You can even make it whatever the size you want as well. The project only cost around $15 to $20 depending on items you may already have or need.
- A pack of thin posters, (I got mine at Walmart for like $3, a pack of 10).
- A large heavy weight poster (I got it at Walmart as well for $3).
- Stencils (I got mine at the Dollar General Store for $3).
- Black paint $1
- Flowers and greenery of your choosing
- Glue gun a and sticks
- Coffee or tea
You will need to paint around the heavy weight poster board. I used black but you can choose whatever color you desire. I just think the black looks a little more elegant.
This is the part where you will need your stencils. I got mine at the Dollar General Store. Stencil “Once upon a time” or whatever phrase you would like.
You want to apply the thin posters to the board. First you need to measure. I actually just folded the poster boards in half and the cut the tops to fit. It was very easy. After you have them cut (just at the top) you apply hot glue behind the crease and apply it directly to the middle of the heavy weight poster that you painted. After you have added so many you want to hot glue the pieces in a shape to look like its a book.
You can use tea or coffee. It absolutely doesn’t matter.Heat it up and take a small paint brush and apply it to the pages. This adds an aged look. Also it makes the pages kind of curl up a little but that is good because it makes it look more realistic. Here is a picture where you can see a little of the difference.
Now this is the fun part. Just add the flowers and Greenery of your choosing. Whatever color that goes with your theme. I chose these beautiful different shades of pink. I got them at Michaels on sale for $5. I got the greenery at Hobby lobby on sale for $5 as well. If its not on sale ALWAYS use an online coupon.
So that is how you make a Once upon a time book. Like I had mentioned it was a very fun project and didn’t take me long at all to make. This project was also very affordable. It turned out beautifully!
